How to pay for MyPost Business labels with Amex
As a MyPost Business customer, you can pay for your Australia Post labels in three ways:
✔️ Credit card: Visa or Mastercard. Best for businesses looking for flexibility and an easy setup.
✔️ Charge account: Best for growing businesses with regular shipping volumes.
✔️ PayPal: Best for new or smaller ecommerce businesses.
Automatic credit card payments cover Visa and Mastercard. So what if you want to use American Express (Amex) to pay for your shipping labels?
You can use Amex in two ways:
✔️ Pay for labels directly through PayPal, with your Amex as the funding source.
✔️ Apply for an Australia Post charge account and pay its invoices through PayPal with your Amex.
This guide explains how each option works with ReadyToShip, what to check before applying for a charge account and how to choose the right workflow for your business.

How automatic and manual payments work in ReadyToShip
Label payments go to Australia Post through your MyPost Business account. The payment method you choose determines whether ReadyToShip can process your labels automatically.
✔️ Automatic: Visa, Mastercard and charge accounts. Labels are paid for when you process them in ReadyToShip, with no extra payment step.
✔️ Manual: PayPal. You prepare labels in ReadyToShip, then complete the payment in MyPost Business during the Pay and Print step.
Because Amex isn’t available as a direct card payment, paying with Amex means choosing either the manual PayPal workflow or an automatic charge account that you pay by invoice.
Paying for labels with Amex through PayPal
To pay for MyPost Business labels with Amex, select your Amex as the PayPal funding source. PayPal Australia lists American Express among its supported payment methods.
How to pay with Amex through PayPal
Link your Amex to your PayPal account.
Prepare your labels in ReadyToShip.
In MyPost Business, choose PayPal at the Pay and Print step.
Check that your Amex is selected as the payment source. If you have several cards or a bank account linked, make sure the payment is going to the account you intend to use.
Confirm the payment and print your labels.

Is the PayPal option right for your business?
This option suits ecommerce businesses that want to use Amex without applying for a charge account. The trade-off is an extra manual step each time you print labels.
If another team member handles dispatch, agree who completes the payment and how the person preparing orders knows it’s done. A clear process stops payment admin from interrupting packing and dispatch.

Paying an Australia Post charge account invoice with Amex
A charge account lets you keep label processing automatic in ReadyToShip while still using Amex. Labels are charged to your approved Australia Post account, and you pay the invoice separately.
Applying for a charge account
Australia Post calls this a Business Credit Account. Its application guidance directs parcel senders spending over $1,000 each month to apply through the Services page in MyPost Business.
Approval is required, so check with Australia Post whether an account suits your business.
Which payment methods does Australia Post accept for charge account invoices?
Australia Post’s business account payment guidance lists three methods for paying invoiced charges:
✔️ Direct debit from a bank account
✔️ Electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a bank account
✔️ Post Billpay, with options including credit or debit card, EFTPOS, PayPal and cash
⚠️ Check your direct debit first. Australia Post’s application asks for bank details for direct debit. If a direct debit is already set up on your account, confirm the payment arrangement with Australia Post before paying through PayPal to avoid paying the same invoice twice.
How to pay your invoice with Amex through PayPal
Find the Billpay code and reference in the How to Pay section on the second page of your invoice.
Follow Australia Post’s Post Billpay instructions to pay online or through the AusPost app.
Choose PayPal as your payment method.
Check that your linked Amex is available and selected, then confirm the payment.
Australia Post accepts PayPal for account invoices, and PayPal supports Amex. However, the funding options shown at checkout determine what you can use for each transaction.
Comparing your payment options
The table below compares the two ways to use Amex for your labels.
PayPal | Charge account | |
How you use Amex | As your PayPal funding source for each label payment | When paying your invoice through PayPal via Post Billpay |
Label processing in ReadyToShip | Manual payment at Pay and Print | Automatic |
